Is Your Smile Broken and in Need of a Cosmetic Upgrade?

Sometimes, if you’re not careful, dental issues and emergencies can occur while you’re traveling. This can be extremely inconvenient. However, did you know there are things you can do to reduce the chances of those things happening? Well, it’s true. To help you reduce the chances of experiencing a dental issue or emergency, Dr. Sheldon Kupferman and our dental team have some tips and information for you.

First, it’s best to avoid starting major dental procedures before leaving, like dental crown treatment or root canal therapy. This is because there is a high chance you’ll experience pain throughout your vacation or you might be stuck in the middle stages of the treatment. If there is no way around this, make sure you find a dentist in the area who can help you if necessary.

Second, fix any decayed, worn, or loosened teeth or dental work. If you have a cavity or if your dental restorations are starting to wear down and break, it’s best to treat and correct them before you start your trip. That way you won’t have to find a temporary dentist while you are away from home. In addition, if you get these problems taken care of, they won’t bother you while you’re trying to enjoy yourself.

Third, take good care of your smile. If you stay dedicated to your oral hygiene routine, your teeth and gums can remain in tip-top shape and you won’t need to worry about cavities, periodontal disease, or other dental issues. Just make sure to pack a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash before you leave so you can brush twice a day and floss and rinse once a day.
